PBS’ Travels with Darley Host Shares Unique Destinations for 2022 in Three Livestreamed Smithsonian Associates Events
Lauren Lyons of Smithsonian Associates issued a press release about Emmy-nominated television host, writer and producer Darley Newman’s Smithsonian Associates Streaming programs. Newman’s recent travel documentary focuses on history and culture along Alabama’s Civil Rights Trail and South Carolina’s new Liberty Trail, along with her recommendations for the best destinations of 2022. She covers the changes and trends in travel today and what travelers can do to best enjoy their adventures.
Her Alabama Civil Rights Trail livestream featured two special guests. Lee Sentell, who wrote the Official US Civil Rights Guidebook and Doris Crenshaw, a lifelong activist whose mentor was Rosa Parks.
Darley has been hosting Smithsonian Associates events for the past few years, including Best Beyond Paris and Undiscovered Tokyo. Her program on Hong Kong and Macao featured VR content from her now famous jump from the world’s highest commercial bungee from atop the Macau Tower in China. She also featured women entrepreneurs and history from Qatar, giving Smithsonian Associates members and the general public insights into global cultures and diversity.
Her most recent Alabama’s Civil Rights Trial livestream event with Smithsonian was shown in theaters in college campuses throughout the South and attended by historic preservation societies and university offices of Diversity and Inclusion across the nation.
Darley’s most recent programs include Travels with Darley: Alabama’s Civil Rights Trail, Best Destinations for 2022 and Travels with Darley: Discover the Liberty Trail.
