Ticketed guests can join Darley live to learn from her and see never-before-showcased videos and insights from Darley’s over a decade and a half of travels and filming. Guests can also interact live with Darley during a special Q&A and meet other live experts that Darley enlists for each special program.
Her recent “Destination Cities: Santa Fe” featured Ana Pacheco, the daughter of Jesus Pacheco and Natalie Ortiz, whose Ortiz ancestors settled in Santa Fe in 1692. Her St. Louis Destinations Cities featured Catherine Neville of the Public Television series tasteMAKERS. Her previous “Alabama Civil Rights Trail” program featured Rosa Parks protégée Doris Crenshaw and was streamed to university audiences and DEI programs in auditoriums across the American South. Travels with Darley: Discover the Liberty Trail featured Alphonso Brown, lecturer on the Gullah language and Black History of Charleston.
Darley’s events are promoted by Smithsonian Associates in a variety of ways: through a printed catalog and Smithsonian Magazine, online, event guides, press releases, PR outreach, social media and more. Events may also be livestreamed to university groups, media and other special audiences.
Darley has been hosting Smithsonian Associates events for the past few years, including Best Beyond Paris and Undiscovered Tokyo. Her program on Hong Kong and Macao featured VR content from her now famous jump from the world’s highest commercial bungee from atop the Macau Tower in China. She also featured women entrepreneurs and history from Qatar, giving Smithsonian Associates members and the general public insights into global cultures and diversity.
