We are excited to share that “Travels with Darley Martinique” won the Golden Mic category for Best Broadcast Feature for the Caribbean Travel Media Awards, which celebrate the very best in US and Caribbean travel journalism! In NYC, we celebrated and received this award at the Caribbean Tourism Industry Awards and Fashion Show.
The night emcee was broadcast journalist and television host Marlie Hall, who kept things lively as awards were handed out in a variety of categories, including traditional journalism and photography and social media. Attendees were treated to a delectable meal from Chef Jason Howard. Hailing from Barbados, this Caribbean chef mixes his native cuisine with French flair. We also enjoyed Caribbean fashion, with designs from Catou.
In addition to our win, longtime journalist Ed Wetschler sat by me at the event and was honored with Best Trade Feature for “8 Resorts Whose Kids Programs Teach Real Skills” in Recommend. Also, sitting with me was Mark A. Thompson who was nominated for “Stopping to Smell the Flowers at Martinique’s French Coco” in Travel Weekly.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is comprised of twenty-four Caribbean governments and a myriad of private sector entities, which work to develop sustainable tourism that contributes to the economic and social benefit of the Caribbean people. Caribbean Week is an annual event in NYC where the diverse tastes of the Caribbean are celebrated with celebrity chefs, through lectures on sustainable tourism, live entertainment and more.
