Cherry Blossoms in Peak Bloom in Washington, DC

Video of Cherry Blossoms in Peak Bloom during the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival in the spring in Washington DC.

Spring has sprung and Washington, DC is in full bloom. It’s a beautiful time of year to see our nation’s capital, especially during the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival and luckily I’m in town. I’ve been traveling a lot, but every spring in my home area of Washington, DC, I make it a point to get down to the National Mall to see the cherry blossoms.

Head down to the National Mall and Tidal Basin for the best cherry blossom viewing. I’m warning you, this location is not a secret. Hordes of people from around the country and the world descend on Washington to photograph and be photographed with the cherry blossoms and can you blame them. Just walking under these graceful flowers will lift your spirits and it should.

A gift from Japan to the United States in 1912 symbolizing friendship, the cherry blossom is also richly symbolic in Japanese culture.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual spring event, usually in April. Just remember, peak blooms don’t last long, sometimes only a week or so. It depends on the weather and with the strong breeze I experienced today, I think you better make your way to DC… if you can handle the crowds. Come on, it’s worth it.
