Not far from the PoHo area in the popular SoHo neighborhood of Hong Kong, PMQ is a newly revitalized building that’s a hub for artists, designers and other creative entrepreneurs. Locals and travelers alike come to shop, get creative ideas and more see artists in action.

Located in a historic police building, PMQ, which stands for Police Married Quarters, is a non-profit where over 100 artists and designers have studio stores that are open to the public. Travelers can see these artists in action and then browse and shop for handmade, local goods. It’s a concept that’s unique to Hong Kong, which I discover when meeting Hugo Yeung and Belinda Chang at Obellery, the studio where they make jewelry, at PMQ.

Also at PMQ, I stopped in Chailie Ho‘s studio and was able to meet this female fashion designer, whose designs are inspired by Hong Kong. From silk scarves to postcards featuring Hong Kong’s skyline and Victoria Harbor in pastel colors, Chailie Ho’s studio is definitely worth a visit.
