At Snowshoe Mountain Resort, I was able to experience extreme off-roading in a UTV. There are lots of fun activities for travelers to enjoy at Snowshoe and other ski resorts in the summer. Downhill mountain biking, hiking, adventure courses and more are on offer.

At Snowshoe, my guide Carol took good care of me. I had never driven a UTV or Utility Task Vehicle before. Carol warned me that in the event of a rollover, not to reach up and grab the roll cage bar. That’s a bad idea. Do not try to stop it. Just hang on to the steering wheel and let it go. Maybe easier said than done in the event of a roll over…

These four wheel drive off road vehicles are tough, built to drive over rocks, careen through mud and beyond in backcountry settings. We drove to the lower part of Shay’s Revenge to look down on a double black diamond ski slope. This is just one example of why it’s fun to visit a ski resort in the summer!
