Salt Water Taffy Recipe from Dolle’s Candyland
Salt Water Taffy at Dolle’s Candyland

In Ocean City, Maryland while filming for “Travels with Darley Maryland’s Eastern Shore,” our group, including my best friend and her two little girls, walked the iconic Boardwalk and sampled just a few of the many sweet treats. One stand-out was at Dolle’s Candyland. This is one of our picks for the top candy stores in the USA and there were so many flavors of salt water taffy, we couldn’t decide what to try next.

Good thing owner Anna Dolle Bushnell was on hand to give us a few samples, ranging from molasses mint to pomegranate to root beer to cafe au lait. Salt water taffy is a popular candy in beach towns and Ocean City is no exception. What’s exceptional is that Dolle’s salt water taffy has been made daily onsite since 1910. Anna has graciously shared her family recipe, so even if you don’t make it to Dolle’s, you can make this treat at home.
