Thirteen New Episodes Uncover Adventure, Food and History across the U.S. in addition to Exploring South Korea’s Culinary Traditions

Season 11 of TRAVELS WITH DARLEY is debuting on PBS stations and streaming on GoTraveler (watch at this link– available in March on Samsung, Apple TV, LG, Roku, Vizio, Sling, and much more). Viewers can expect to experience an enticing blend of culture, history, and gastronomy across a captivating array of destinations in the USA and to South Korea. Thirteen half-hour episodes include the launch of  TRAVELS WITH DARLEY: “Revolutionary Road Trips” in the lead up to the 2026 commemorations of America’s 250th.

TRAVELS WITH DARLEY invites viewers on a journey of discovery as Darley Newman explores the heart and soul of each place she visits. In Season 11, viewers can look forward to:

  • Northern Virginia’s Tapestry: Discover a fusion of OSS spy cabins and Turkish simit, along with American apple pies and historical outdoor adventures. Explore the rich cultural tapestry of Prince William County, home to Civil War history, a former CIA training ground turned national park, and a treasure trove of travel experiences and cuisine in Occoquan, Manassas National Battlefield Park, and more.

1101 Alabama for Foodies: Part I

Explore food, culture, and history as Darley embarks on a culinary journey through Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Marion in Alabama’s Blackbelt in “Travels with Darley: Alabama for Foodies Part I.” She meets James Beard award-winning chefs in Birmingham and discovers the favorite spots of Crimson Tide coaches, athletes, students, and fans on game days. Darley also visits the restaurant that inspired “Fried Green Tomatoes” and concludes her trip in Marion, where Civil Rights history, biscuit making, and organic farming converge.

1102 Alabama for Foodies: Part II

Explore food, culture and history with top farm-to-table chefs in Mobile, Montgomery, and Auburn on “Travels with Darley: Alabama for Foodies Part II.” Darley wanders through downtown Mobile to find culinary delights inspired by the city’s architecture and history, including a Cuban speakeasy bar hidden in a bank vault and hotel walls that can talk! She then travels north to Montgomery in search of the famous hot dog craved by U.S. Presidents, Alabama Governors and celebrities since 1917, and the meatless version of the Southern meat and three! She completes her foodie tour of Alabama at Auburn where the university, and local farmers and restauranteurs collaborate on innovative and sustainable projects to keep Alabama in the forefront of the food industry.

1103 Lafayette, Louisiana

Follow Darley to the heart of Cajun Country as she joins the festivities at the annual Festival International de Louisiane held in Lafayette, Louisiana. In addition to sharing the music, art, cuisine and culture of the nationalities represented at the festival, Darley takes viewers crawfishing, Cajun cooking, and Zydeco dancing. No trip with Darley is complete without visiting the best food and drink gems of Lafayette. Laissez les bons temps rouler—let the good times roll!

1104 North Dakota Chasing Sunflowers 

Chase sunflowers and happiness with Darley Newman in the brilliant fields of yellow sunflowers blanketing North Dakota. Darley learns about the farming of sunflowers, and their various uses and health benefits, as well as charting quirky roadside attractions like Salem Sue and Lewis & Clark history along the Missouri River. This episode highlights from Bismarck to New Salem with river cruises, art alleys, museums, cute and quirky cafes, breweries, and cuisine.

1105 Route 66 Illinois

Join Darley along Route 66 in Illinois on a road trip from Chicago to St. Louis to discover the “then and now” stories of attractions peppered along the route. From 1950s-style diners to American Indian sites to the old Joliet Prison, step back in time and take a modern spin along The Mother Road. Darley showcases the new attractions along the route, as well as renovations and additions made to existing classic attractions, giving both new and previous Route 66 travelers a reason to visit, and visit again.

1106 Northern Virginia

Combine OSS spy cabins and authentic Turkish simit with made-from-scratch American apple pies and history-filled outdoor recreation on “Travels with Darley: Northern Virginia.” Travel back in time and visit with a melting pot of cultures in Prince William County in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. Learn about the history of the Civil War and visit a CIA training ground, both of which are now national parks. Experience travel gems and food found in the quaint town of Occoquan, Manassas National Battlefield Park, along the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, Prince William Forest Park, and the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

1107 South Carolina: Revolutionary Road Trip Part I

Join Darley on a Revolutionary Road Trip from Charleston to James Island and through Berkeley County in South Carolina, experiencing historic sites and untold stories related to the American Revolution. Explore history and culture at The Charleston Museum, Heyward Washington House, Middleton Place, Fort Johnson, McLeod Plantation, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Old Santee Canal Park, and Francis Marion’s gravesite, including restaurants with Gullah Geechee influences.

1108 South Carolina: Revolutionary Road Trip Part II

Visit historic locations in South Carolina on a Revolutionary Road Trip, starting from the coastal city of Charleston, the oldest and largest city in South Carolina, and ending in the state’s oldest inland city, Camden. Join Darley Newman to learn more about our nation’s founding and its future through the lens of history and travel to sites related to the American Revolution, as well as other historic gems you might want to seek out along this road trip route.

1111 New Jersey: Revolutionary Road Trip Part III 

Make stops along the Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Trail in Trenton, New Brunswick, Somerville, and Morristown, learning untold stories related to our French allies and the romance and battles of Alexander Hamilton. Visit the first National Historical Park, Morristown National Historical Park, where the Continental Army survived the coldest winter on record. Explore Perth Amboy’s Proprietary House, the only remaining royal governor’s mansion still standing, where Loyalist William Franklin, son of Benjamin Franklin, once lived. Darley also takes us to East Jersey Old Town to examine reconstructed and restored buildings and see historical interpreters bring the Village to life through their trades and crafts.
