With 58 letters, this village on Anglesey Island in Wales boasts the longest one-word placename in Europe, and it’s a tongue twister.

On the island of Anglesey in Wales, much of the population still speaks Welsh fluently. This is the island where Prince William and Duchess Kate chose to live during his tour of duty as a search and rescue pilot starting back in 2010, but it’s not just known for its royal ties. Anglesey has a village that’s known for its name. You heard that right.

In this special video, listen as Tenon Tours’ Welsh walking guide Eurwyn Williams explains and pronounces Llanfairpwll-gwyngyllgogerychwyrndrob-wllllantysiliogogogoch or Llanfairpwll-gwyngyllgogerychwyrndrob-wllllantysiliogogogoch or as they say locally Llanfair PG or Llanfair.
